Car PAint - VRAY

This modular car paint is an easy to use paint material, setup into its corresponding physical layers. Its a great material to use when learning how car paint materials work, and helps to break down how each physical layer interacts with light and reflections. There are much more advanced materials and techniques that can be used, however if you’re learning how car paint works, this is a great starting point.

Below you can see how the paint material is broken up. We have 3 layers, a base layer, the flakes layer and then the Lacquer coat layer.

Each layer combines to create a metallic flake car paint. Note, that the “Flake” layer uses the Vray BlendMtl colour opacity to adjust its strength.

Each material within the Vray BlendMtl can be adjusted to get the desired effect. Below you can see some variations using this paint setup.

You can always switch off the flake layer to create a standard car paint too!
